A Theft Incidence at Kankobe Childrens Home
On 8th January 2020, thieves broke into the premises of Kankobe Children’s Home at 1:00am. They harassed and tortured the Religious Sisters and Matron who care for the children in the home. The security guard was seriously beaten up leaving him with serious injuries and in a critical condition. He was rushed to Nkozi Hospital for medication, he has fully recovered.
The thieves also broke into the offices and stole several things like money, laptops, phones and a Toyota Noah registration No. UBC 866B shown below:
The case was reported to Kayabwe Police Station; Ref. CRD003/2020 and later, the OC of Kayabwe forwarded the case to Mpigi Police Station to be handled by DPC and CID. A number of suspects were arrested, wrote their statements and were interrogated but unfortunately the vehicle plus other items that were stolen have not been recovered.
The activities of the Home which include but are not limited to tracing relatives of the abandoned children, follow ups carried out and transportation of sick children to Nkozi Hospital which is far away from the home is on a stand still.
We are appealing to the people of good will, companies and organizations to help us acquire another vehicle, acquisition and install CCTV Cameras, install alarm bells, raising the perimeter wall and install security lights around the perimeter wall. We also want to purchase computers/laptops to enable us to execute the Home activities in far as tracing, follow ups, taking sick children to hospital and other office work is concerned.
We shall be very grateful for any form of support.
